Hello, I'm Stephanie Gordon, the owner of Bastrop Jazzercise and a certified Jazzercise instructor since 2004. I am married with 3 daughters. I gew up in Mississippi and New Orleans and met my husband at LSU. In my life before Jazzercise, I was a CPA (still am) and a stay-at-home Mom. I discovered Jazzercise after my third daughter was born and was immediately hooked. Not only has Jazzercise helped me to lose over 30 pounds, it has given me the kind of self esteem that I had never possessed. I have battled my weight my entire life - just since exercising regularly at Jazzercise have I learned how to sustain weight loss. It's easy - when you love your workout! I am proud to offer Jazzercise in our community so that you too can reinvent yourself.
Hey everyone, I'm Tammy! I have been involved with Jazzercise off and on since High School when my Mom started going to classes in Austin. I joined classes during college at A & M and always loved the music! After two pregnancies resulting in my two beautiful daughters, I was in desperate need of getting back into shape. With both of my pregnancies I was pushing 185 lbs. and afterwards (they are only 15 months apart!) I didn’t seem to lose much of the weight. Being a full time Mom and living on one salary made it difficult to attend classes; but I did join Jazzercise in Smithville for a few months. When I decided to go back to work I was ecstatic to find that Stephanie had started classes in Bastrop and joined as soon as I could. The weight didn’t come off immediately but I began feeling better and became more active in my life. After a year of Jazzercise and losing about 10 lbs., I decided to change my eating habits. With a healthier diet and smaller portions I basically began to melt away. It was amazing! Before I knew it I had lost an additional 30 lbs!! Having such success motivated me to attend classes more often. I attended five or more classes every week and I began helping Stephanie out as class manager. I decided to become an instructor because I know that Jazzercise, in combination with a healthy life style can change your body, mind, and attitude. I’m still in the process of losing and maintaining my current weight. The key is "don't stop" and believe in yourself! I thoroughly enjoy teaching classes and I hope that I can be an inspiration for change in your lives and as well as mine!
Hello. I’m Mary Santa Ana. I have been a certified Jazzercise Instructor since 2003. I have been involved with Jazzercise since the early 80’s when I started going to classes in Mesquite, TX, near Dallas. At that time, I was in the banking industry and always looked forward to finishing most of my days with a great workout that Jazzercise provided. In 1989, I left my career as a banker to pursue a degree in education. I packed my bags and checked into the University of Texas for the next three years. While there, Jazzercise was still a big part of my life. Upon arriving in Austin, locating new classes to attend was a high priority in addition to finishing my degree. I remember first taking classes at a church near my apartment, and eventually taking classes at St. Louis Catholic church after getting my first teaching position. Boy, did I need Jazzercise then. I remember all my instructors and how motivating and encouraging they were to always strive to be the healthiest you could be. I admired that, but I never saw myself being one of them. It wasn’t until Jazzercise came to Elgin, TX, my current home, that the opportunity fell into my lap. The class owner singled me out and asked if I’d consider it. I decided to pursue it because I wanted to give back to others all that had been given to me as a student. Today, in addition to teaching Jazzercise, I am also a 6th grade teacher in Austin. Having a teaching position like this keeps me very busy, and I feel very blessed that I have Jazzercise in my life. Not only has it helped me continue to fight the weight issues that I have struggled with all my life, but also the day to day stress that goes along with hanging around 6th graders all day. But most importantly, I love teaching Jazzercise and being able to give back to a community of people that are just as health conscious as I try to be.
Bridgette Escobedo Heather Yates Hey everyone, I’m Heather. I am married to Mr. David Yates. We have two wonderful little boys, Nathaniel and Eli. I am a stay at home mom (or so I thought). I am always super busy with taking kids here and there, looking after my sister Emma, receiving my college degree online and of course all my other motherly duties. I always make a little time for myself. I HAVE to even with my busy schedule!
Rhonda Lock Hello...my name is Rhonda Lock, and I am a stay-at-home mom to my loving family. My husband Kent and I have two handsome little boys, Luke and Colt. I became addicted to Jazzercise in 2006 when I decided I had to do something about my weight problem. I was cooking too many meat and potato suppers along with scrumptious desserts and trying to keep up with my husband's unreal metabolism. After having my two babies 16 months apart, I was having a hard time getting the weight off. So back to Jazzercise I went.
Britney Miller Hey gang, I'm Britney Miller and I am currently attending Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas earning a Kinesiology degree with a minor in health education.
