Jazzercise is the world's leading dance-fitness program. Founded in 1969, today Jazzercise has 6,000 instructors worldwide teaching 20,000 classes weekly. Jazzercise Tops Consumer Reports List of Activity Benefits Jazzercise topped a January 2005 Consumer Reports list of 15 activities, including walking, running, golf, and step aerobics, as the only exercise to fulfill each of the following benefits: cardiovascular, resistance, weight-bearing, upper body and lower body. The list was part of an article entitled "What Workouts do for You", which discusses the hows and whys of selecting a fitness activity and states "a key to success is picking an activity you like that will fit into your schedule." Jazzericse combines elements of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, kick-boxing, and more to create truly effective programs for people of every age and fitness level. Jazzercise Meets ACSM Guidelines The American College of Sports Medicine has set forth exercise recommendations for achieving overall fitness. An exercise program should rid the body of unnecessary fat, improve flexibilty, and enhance the strength of the heart and muscles. Coming to Jazzercise at least three times per week and joining in the fun meets these guidelines. |
